Couches vs. Chairs
I am Dr. Siggy Freud, the father-in-law of psychiatry and this is my podcast, “You are an ID-iot.”
You ask a question and if you are left-handed, I might answer it. Depends on my mood.
Today’s question: Why do your patients lie on a couch instead of sit in a chair? Does it make them more comfortable?
Of course it does, which is the whole point. They get comfortable, they fall asleep, I don’t have to listen to them — one complaint after the other. Who do they think I am? A customer service representative?
For the record, I did try chairs. The only problem was I had to make eye contact with my patients. Forced me to pay attention. Very stressful.
As for the couches themselves, I get them at Ikea. They are easier to assemble than their chairs and they cost less than a plate of Ikea’s Swedish meatballs.
Enough talk about Ikea —they are not paying me to plug their products, and I don’t like Swedish meatballs.
In the meantime and until next week, I am Dr. Siggy Freud and “You are an ID-iot.”
