Psychology vs. Psychiatry
I am Dr Siggy Freud, and this is my podcast, “You are an ID-iot.”
You ask a question and if can pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time, I answer it.
Today’s question:
What is the difference between psychology and psychiatry. Finally, a good question.
And the answer is, I’m not sure, other than they both begin with the letters P-S-Y. of maybe it is Y-S-P. Who cares?
I, myself, am a psychiatrist, which obviously makes psychiatry more important than psychology; certainly I can charge more for my services.
I can also prescribe medications — Prozac, Ozempic, Viagara or whatever other drug you hear about on TV. I also do lobotomies, which, alas, is a dying art. A.I. is taking over everything.
Another difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist is in office furniture. Go to a psychologist and you have to sit up straight in a chair. Go to a psychiatrist, and you can curl up on a couch in a fetal position and fall asleep. That is why I provide my patients with pillows and stuffed animals. They leave well-rested.
Speaking of patients, I have one waiting for me. So until next time, I am psychiatrist Siggy Freud and “You are an ID-iot.”
